Our Intellectual Property Team is able to act for and service diverse clients in intellectual property related transactions. From advising on the procedure for registering a brand to the actual registration of the brand with the Trade Marks, Patents and Design Registry in Nigeria, we are able to ensure that our clients brands are protected. The Partners have previously advised clients on the registration of trade and service marks at the Nigerian Trade Marks Registry; the enforcement, transfer and revalidation of trademarks; the registration and renewal of patents and designs; third party and office actions; the preparation and registration of technology transfer agreements under the auspices of the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP) and on franchising and distributorship arrangements in Nigeria.
Furthermore, the Team is able to negotiate and draft intellectual property-related agreements; registration, commercialization, and protection of copyrights and other intellectual property rights; conducting intellectual property asset audits; and advising on competition law and brand protection strategies and mechanisms. The firm is very familiar with the rules, practice and procedure of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
